Module 1: Understanding the Impact of Trauma on Student Behavior 

In this session, you will enhance your understanding of how trauma impacts the brain and body in both children and adults. We will discuss self-management and self-care, as these are essential components of being trauma-informed. Additionally, we will learn some key behavioral strategies to use with students who have experienced trauma. You will leave the session with new understandings and practices you can implement immediately.

Module 2: Understanding the Impact of Trauma on Student Learning 

In this session, you will build upon your new understanding of trauma from Module 1. You will learn more specifics about how trauma impacts learning, memory, and other cognitive processes. Additionally, you will learn how to provide key instructional supports, supply students with executive functioning strategies, teach emotional regulation techniques, and learn several ways to strengthen your relationships with students who have experienced trauma.

Audience: This live webinar is appropriate for any education professional who wants to learn more about the effects of trauma and specific ways to support students who have experienced trauma. Teachers, special educators, administrators, school psychologists, social workers, counselors, BCBA’s, and any other interested parties are welcome.

Dr. Mahri Wrightington is the founder and CEO of PD Monster. She earned an undergraduate degree in psychology at Bryn Mawr College and a doctorate in school psychology at the University of Connecticut. She holds current school certifications in school psychology and school administration. Having worked as a school psychologist, school administrator, and education consultant for the past 2 decades, Dr. Wrightington has a wealth of knowledge to share with participants.
